A party, some toys, and the first day of school!

This week has been a little crazy, but a lot of fun.  Rexburg pulls out all the stops to welcome the kids back to school!  They have a celebrate youth day with games and food.  

The girls hula hooped!

And played bumper cars!  This was so fun to watch.

And there were plenty of bounce houses for Hagan to climb.  Notice that Riley is missing from these photo's?  Well of course, he ran into a girl and he was off with her.  They ended the night with a dance for the older students so he met a lot of girls!  

School started the next day so with all this activity the kids actually slept the night before school.

This outfit SCREAMS Keni!  Bright yellow ruffles and polka dot shoes.  Her teacher is a former Miss Rexburg!  When Keni came home the first day she said that her teacher looks just like cousin Karlie and she just wants her teacher to be Karlie now! Karlie we love you!

Danika was a little nervous!  Once she made it to the bus stop all the girls loved her shoes so after that everything was better!  She had a great first day.

Riley is going for the subtle, but strikingly handsome look.  What a boy!  Can't believe he is a junior!

What a good looking clan! I love them all so much!

Not to be left out, Hagan got a new toy this week.  It is a scooter that he promptly named Gibby.  Gibby comes in the house at the end of the day so he doesn't get cold.  Just like a family member.  I am just waiting for Hagan to tell me we have to feed Gibby.  

Doug got a new toy too - we haven't named it yet, but I'm sure it will happen soon!  It might be named "ka-ching" at least once a month!

So that means we had a ceremonial passing of the toys to Riley.  He is so excited to call the Honda his now!  Look at that smile he is trying to hide from his mom.  He thinks this is his key to freedom.  Hmmm......

Saturday Night

So what do you do on a Saturday in a small town?

Well the first thing is to take out all the Hollyhocks that over took the flower bed at your house.  I so should've done before and after pictures, but we honestly had a forest!

 Then you have kind neighbors that take pity on all the hard work as you pulled the hollyhocks from the house and let you borrow their ranger to dump them!  

Riley says, "Nana, this is what I want for Christmas! - Make it the 6 seater for all of us!"

 Then you load up the kids and take them to a DRIVE-IN movie!  

We watched planes and it was great!  (Don't you love the vampire eyes!) Hagan fell asleep about an hour into the show and then I snuggled with him to stay warm.  We can't wait to try this out in the summer when it isn't so cold after dark.

Big Springs

It was really only a matter of time before we would make our way to Big Springs!  

Everyone was smiles on the way from Mack's inn to the boat launch.  The last time Dani canoed down this river she was 3 and she fell in.  She had a triumphant return this time! 

We decided to go Girls against Boys.  

Girls totally win for looking best in a life jacket!

Dani was a great navigator.  Check out that view.  Some of the Major clan should recognize it! 

The best part was that about half way down the river we came around a bend and found a mama moose and her baby.  She looked right at us - even Hagan's screaming didn't bother her.  It was pretty cool.  

We found a guy that rents canoes right here in Rexburg.  He loads them on a trailer and has the life jackets and paddles.  He has a few maps of different places to go.  We want to try out some different rivers - if you ever want to join us let us know.

The Fair

We had to come back to Utah for the fair this year.  Riley decided he was going to stay in Idaho so he could attend a party.  Moving has been so hard for him. (Read lots of sarcasm!)

The girls did well with their 4-H entries.

Keni decorated some flip flops and a barrette with balloons and ended up with a purple ribbon (meaning she could go to the state fair).

Dani's moustache cross-stitch turned out super cute and it won a blue ribbon!

These are Keni's super duper chocolate awesome brownie's and they got a purple ribbon too  - You need to ask her to make some of these for you - they are the best.

Dani beaded a beautiful bracelet that got a blue ribbon!

We got to ride horses with Uncle Bryan and Aunt Cindy - Hagan loved it!

It was a little windy, you can tell by Keni's hair, but it was so fun!

Sand Dunes!

Did you know that there are SAND DUNES where we live?

We have the best neighbors and they were feeling sorry for us because Doug isn't around during the week so they took us to the sand dunes by lake Egan.   I wasn't the best at taking pictures that day, but here are a few!

This is Riley, Dani, and Hagan in the water.  Keni was running around the sand.  Hagan spent the 2-3 hours we were there in the water being a "hippo." It was great.  One thing I can say is that walking up and down sand hills is a great way to pumice your feet and work your glutes - felt that one the next day!

This is Riley's great interpretation of a woman in need of Yenta.  I would trust him - would you?

Moving!

Moving was something I don't want to do again for a long time!  It was an adventure and the kids were amazingly good and helpful, but it is so much work!

Hagan seriously can watch the ipad anywhere!

All packed up with some place to go!  Doug is the shrink wrap master!

Hagan has more muscles than Riley - Hagan packed all the boxes into U-haul.  Doesn't that face say it all!

Doug had great traveling company!  Doug drove the U-haul and made good time.  He was the first to make it to Idaho.  The first thing was to run through the house and scream - accomplished by the youngest of our family, then the work began.  Fortunately neighbors just appeared from nowhere and we were unpacked in about 45 minutes.  CRAZY!

And in second place.... Dani, Riley and Mom.  Obviously all odd shaped things (including the passengers rode in the van).  Shout out to Jay in the background!  We love you!

Nana Major is a whirlwind of cleaning and she had the whole upstairs cleaned in about an hour.  I followed behind and started unpacking.  Nana had the worst end of the deal!  I need her super powers with us everyday - the clean didn't stay, but we are getting settled in!

The Front Room - I still don't know about the paint, but with cathedral ceilings Doug says it is staying.  

And this is where you can hang out in the great room off the kitchen.  See we have plenty of room if you want to come and visit.
